The Lancashire Women’s Cricket Association (LWCA) and the Lancashire Cricket Board (LCB) are committed to the development of girls and women's cricket within the County. It has been charged with giving all girls and women the opportunity to play cricket and provide a clear pathway to enable them to represent ultimately the County.
What we are doing with girls cricket
The LCB and the LWCA are working with all Cricket Development Groups (CDGs) to look into the development of girls cricket through their schools and clubs, with an opportunity for the girls to play in an U11 and U13 Junior Development Competition.
The aim of the competition are: to provide girls from those age groups a pathway for them to continue playing competitive cricket against their peers; that it complements the work that already takes place in schools and clubs by the LCB and its partners; and it provides girls with a structure in which they could continue with their development, competing against each other and providing them with confidence and the motivation to carry on in the sport, ultimately becoming members of the women’s game.
It is hoped this competition will also feed into District Competitions at the 3 County Sports Partnership Youth Games this summer.

It would not be possible to develop girls cricket to the extent that we hope to achieve, without working in partnership with our CDGs and various other partners involved.
We have a great opportunity to strengthen Girls’ and Women's cricket and we hope that we can work together to create a thriving environment for girls to play cricket in Lancashire for the foreseeable future.
