Player Profile

Georgia Voll is a rising star of Australian cricket.

The Queenslander has signed for Lancashire Thunder to play in the entire Charlotte Edwards Cup T20 competition added to four mid-season Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy games.

Prior to her arrival at Emirates Old Trafford in May, Voll had made exactly 100 senior career appearances in T20 and 50-over cricket since debuting for her state in early 2020. She also made her Brisbane Heat debut later that year.

Voll’s experience is significant, despite her tender age of 20.

She made her state debut for Queensland aged 16.

She is a powerful batting all-rounder who bowls very useful off-spin.

The right-hander has batted up and down the order across the various formats and has opened the bowling for the Heat in the WBBL competition.

In T20 cricket, she has a best of 52 to her name with the bat and 4-19 with the ball.

In List A cricket, she has scored three centuries, including a best of 145. With the ball, she has a best of 3-20.

In a three-day Cricket Australia trial match in Adelaide at the start of March, 2024 - effectively between the country’s possibles for international cricket, she scored 200 off 238 balls opening the batting for the Green team.

Thunder’s other overseas player this summer, Katie Mack, played in the same match for the Gold team and hit a half-century.

This will be Voll’s first taste of domestic cricket overseas.

She made five appearances on home soil for Australia A against England A in early 2022, playing against prospective Thunder team-mates Emma Lamb and Ellie Threlkeld.

Voll debuted for the Brisbane Heat the season after they won the WBBL in late 2019, but she did play in their final against Adelaide Strikers last December. She was on the losing side to Mack’s Strikers.

You won’t have to look too hard to find a highlights reel of a 50-over century Voll scored for Queensland against the ACT side in Australia’s WNCL competition in December just gone.

If that is anything to go by, she is an imposing batter who is punishing on anything short - either pulling or cutting - and she hits strongly down the ground against spin.

Voll has also played junior representative Rugby League for Queensland.

She is a popular and outgoing member of the Queensland and Brisbane Heat squads and does not take to the field without her pair of lucky pearl earrings.
