Phil Salt to play for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL

Kolkata Knight Riders have signed Lancashire wicket keeper batter Phil Salt for this year's Indian Premier League (IPL), as a replacement for Jason Roy.

Having remained initially unsold in the latest auction, this will be Salt's second season in the IPL. He represented Delhi Capitals last season - scoring 218 runs at 27.25 with a strike rate of 163.91.

He will join fellow Lancashire team mates Liam Livingstone (Punjab Kings) and Jos Buttler (Rajasthan Royals) in this year's competition.

Captained by Shreyas Iyer, KKR's opening game campaign is on Saturday 23 March against Sunrisers at Kolkata's Eden Gardens. The 27 year-old will be joining up with the squad immediately and will miss Lancashire's start to the 2024 campaign. The final of the IPL is on Sunday 26 May.
